Onk! Onk!

Ongk is the sound of a goose.
Ankh is on the pharaoh’s tomb.
Önk, önk is the horn of my red jellybean car.

“Maybe, today’s man isn’t able to perceive the beauty, greatness and profound consolation of the word ‘father’ that we can use to talk to God in prayer, because today father figures are often not sufficiently present, and not sufficiently positive, in everyday life.” -Pope Benedict XVI, addressing his general audience on Wednesday, May 23” Via Adriane A Dorr (via dealsanddevos)

Kickass Kid of the Day: As 9-year-old Josef Miles and his mother walked around Kansas’ Washburn University campus last weekend, he noticed a group of Westboro Baptist Church members picketing as people headed to graduation ceremonies.
Josef asked mom if he could create his own sign, and promptly staged a one-man protest. His sign, written in pencil on a tiny sketchpad, read simply, “God Hates No One.”

Lord, help me to be the kind of friend to others that I want to have. Give me Your compassion, so that I may respond to others through love, not judgment. Show me how to comfort those who are hurting and how to celebrate with those who are rejoicing.

Gaudia Virginis Mariae by Marc-Antoine Charpentier

This French baroque piece consists of seven verses. Each of them opens with the word ‘gaude’ (rejoice) and celebrates one of the traditional seven joys of Mary.

An appropriate song for the month of May, dedicated to Mary!
