Onk! Onk!

Ongk is the sound of a goose.
Ankh is on the pharaoh’s tomb.

It is Epiphany Sunday, one of my favorite days of the Church calendar!  Today reminds us that God does amazing things with questionable material.  He welcomes pagans, Magi, to seek and uses them to spread the word of the Savior’s birth.  He uses dust to create human life (whether you believe this literally or metaphorically), and he uses all those messy, flawed people in the Old Testament to do incredible things.

“What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” James 2:14-17
